I seem to be doing an awful lot of waiting these past few days, but in a true digital age this waiting seems to be on several different media;
On the plus side I didn’t get a beating at Karate last night from my friend, for some cheeky banter last week. In fact I had a fairly good class which is in stark contrast to last week.  However as my friend said;
I have a long memory, just you wait….

Sometimes, and rather rudely at that, you have to stop yourself, look at what it is you are dreaming of and come to the realisation that is only that.. a dream, and one which is probably too far away for you to touch or could possibly have hope to realise.
And that’s where I am today. I looked at the dream from several angles and put on my ‘sensible head’, which is not something I do very often, and came to the stark realisation that I was being an idiot, which *is* something I am very often!
I am a somewhat unhappy at having to do this bit of growing up, but will put this down to a ‘Mid-Life Crisis’, as a friend so helpfully labelled it, and move forward with something less than I had hoped.
It *is* the sensible thing to do after all..
(bloody hell! back to the maudling posts again!)
If anyone out there is wondering what to get me as a pressie for Christmas/birthday next year/just cos you want to as I am generally a very nice person… then look no further!
Currently reading a five page extract from Paul Carr’s new book “Bringing Nothing To The Party: True Confessions Of A New Media Whore” which is published on The Register. Hilarious stuff, well it made me laugh in all the inappropriate places, and is a companion to his blog site.
Very geeky I know, but that’s me.. So get rushing over to Waterstones already!!
Seems an appropriate title, being the label thrown at me this week by somebody I train with at Karate, or more specifically ‘Lurch’. Â This was done whilst they sat at a friends house trading insults with me, about my taste in music and choice of car, over MSN.
Normally these kind of things just make me laugh, after all I have been called MUCH worse, mostly in jest (or at least I hope they were said in Jest), but somehow the term stuck in my mind; maybe because whilst in Karate the said person seemed genuinely put out with me – so maybe the label was genuine too?
To be honest, I haven’t been feeling particularly happy about my Karate lately; I feel too leaden, clumsy, slow, awkward (insert your other favourite phrase here). My sparring on Tuesday was bloody awful too, which is not helped by seeing how good all the other guys are; Gary was able to pick me off with ridiculous ease, Sally was able to critique my form as I breathlessly tried to get some form of strike in, Ed popped me around the head far too often, and watching Libs and Sarah glide around doing kicks to the head just showed how far I am from their skill levels!
Time to practise my “You Rang?” baritone whenever anybody calls.
